Frequently Asked Quesitons
What core materials are available for CNC panels?
  • CNC panels come in various core material options, including:
    • IDF (Interlam® Designed Fiberboard) – High-quality wood fibers for deep profiling.
    • NAF (No Added Formaldehyde) – Environmentally friendly with ultra-low formaldehyde emissions.
    • Class A Fire Rated MDF – MDF treated with fire-retardant additives.
    • Moisture Resistant MDF – Ideal for high-humidity interior applications.
    • Forescolor – Through-colored engineered wood available in multiple colors.
    • FSC® Certified MDF – Sustainable and responsible wood sourcing.
What sizes and thicknesses are available for CNC panels?
  • Standard panel size: 48” x 96” (4’ x 8’)
  • Custom sizes up to 60” wide and 120” long may be available.
  • Thickness ranges from ½” to 3” depending on pattern and installation method.
Can CNC panels be customized with different patterns and finishes?
  • Yes, CNC panels can be customized with a variety of patterns and finishes, including:
    • Factory Sanded & Primed – Ready for on-site finishing.
    • Painted (Benjamin Moore & Sherwin Williams colors)
    • Specialty Paints – Metallic, antique, oxy, tortoise shell.
    • Foil Overlays – Non-gloss and high-gloss options.
    • High-Pressure Laminates (Lab Design Laminates)
How should CNC panels be installed?
  • CNC panels can be installed using different methods:
    • Z-Clips – Requires at least three rows of Z-clips for proper support.
    • Construction Mastic (Liquid Nails, PL Premium Polyurethane) – Recommended for plywood surfaces.
    • Direct Screw Attachment – Panels can be screwed directly into a structural backer.
How do I prevent warping or bowing of panels?
  • Store panels flat and face up in a climate-controlled environment before installation.
  • Allow at least three days for acclimation to the environment.
  • Maintain relative humidity levels between 25-55% to avoid expansion or contraction.
  • Use back priming or sealing to prevent moisture absorption.
Can CNC panels be installed on drywall?
  • It is not recommended to install CNC panels directly on drywall. A structurally sound surface, such as 12mm Baltic birch plywood, is advised for secure adhesion.
How do I clean and maintain CNC panels?
  • Metal Finishes: Use tarnish removers and metal polishes; apply a protective wax after cleaning.
  • Painted Finishes:
    • Use a soft, dry cloth for dusting.
    • Lightly dampen a cloth with mild soap and water for cleaning.
    • Avoid silicone-based cleaners and harsh detergents.
  • Foil (Membrane) Finishes: Use a soft, dry cloth or vacuum with a soft brush attachment.
  • Rusty Steel Finish: Do not use damp cloths or solvents, as this can cause permanent streaking.
Can CNC panels be repainted or refinished?
  • Yes, CNC panels can be repainted or refinished. However:
    • Factory finishes should be lightly sanded before repainting.
    • Lacquer or water-based paints should be used for optimal adhesion.
What is the lead time for CNC panel orders?
  • Standard lead time is 2 to 4 weeks, depending on workload. Lead times are based on a first-come, first-served basis and may vary for custom orders.
Do you offer rush orders?
  • No, rush orders are not available. However, orders are processed as quickly as possible.
What information is needed for custom CNC panel orders?
  • For custom projects, please provide:
    • Core material selection (IDF, NAF, Fire-Rated, etc.).
    • Pattern choice and orientation (vertical or horizontal).
    • Panel dimensions and thickness.
    • Finish preference (painted, foil overlay, laminate, etc.).
    • Installation method (Z-clips, mastic, direct screw attachment).
    • Project layout in AutoCAD (.DWG, .DXF, or PDF format) for precise cutting.
