How to Install Ezobord Full Sheet Acoustic Panels

How to mount Ezobord PET felt Full Sheets with EzoTape and construction adhesive: tape spacing for 9 mm and 12 mm sheets, leveling, and burnishing.

Ezobord Full Panels are sheets of PET acoustic felt that mount flat to a wall with EzoTape, a double-sided tape made for the material. Construction adhesive added behind the tape gives a permanent bond. This guide follows Ezobord's Full Sheet installation instructions.

Tools and materials

  • EzoTape
  • Construction-grade adhesive (recommended in addition to the tape)
  • Level or laser, roller, and a sharp knife

Steps

  1. Tape the edges. On the back of the sheet, apply EzoTape around the outer edges, about 1/8 in. in from the edge.
  2. Add vertical rows. Run more EzoTape vertically across the back: every 16 in. for 9 mm (3/8 in.) sheets and every 12 in. for 12 mm (1/2 in.) sheets.
  3. Burnish the tape. Roll over the tape to bond it to the felt. Add beads of construction adhesive between the tape rows for a permanent installation.
  4. Mark the wall. Find the sheet's position, level it, and mark it in pencil.
  5. Stick the sheet. Peel the paper backing off the tape and press the sheet onto the wall at your marks.
  6. Burnish the face. Roll over the whole sheet with firm pressure so it bonds to the wall.

Cutting and finishing

Cut the felt with a sharp knife against a straight edge. Sheets come in 1/4 in. (48 × 108 in.), 3/8 in. (48 × 96 in.), and 1/2 in. (48 × 108 in.) thicknesses and are tackable, so the finished wall can double as a pin-up surface.

Performance

Mounted flat, Full Panels test at NRC 0.31 (3/8 in.) and 0.40 (1/2 in.). They are ASTM E84 Class A and at least 60% recycled PET.
